War Torn Pups and Cats Program

The War Torn Pups and Cats program by Paws of War is a heartwarming initiative that reunites military personnel with the animals they rescued and formed deep bonds with while serving overseas. The program covers all costs, including vaccines, medical treatment, and transportation, ensuring that these animals reach the safety of the U.S. and become loyal companions in their forever homes. To date, over 600 dogs and cats have been brought to the U.S. through this program, exemplifying the Paws of War motto, "Helping Both Ends of the Leash."

Helping Heroes Program

The Helping Heroes program provides invaluable assistance to veterans and first responders, addressing urgent and supportive needs. This program extends beyond just providing service dogs; it encompasses various types of support such as fencing for dogs, pet food, and sometimes even food for the veterans themselves. The program recognizes that many veterans are on fixed incomes and greatly benefits from this comprehensive support.

Service Dogs and Companion Animals

Paws of War's program for Service Dogs and Companion Animals involves training dogs to assist veterans in managing conditions like PTSD. The training duration varies, with some dogs becoming ready in as little as 9 months, while others might take up to 18 months or more. The program also provides obedience and basic skill training for companion animals, enhancing the lives of veterans through these dedicated and well-trained pets.

MWD - Mission Well Done Program

The MWD - Mission Well Done program honors the service of working and service dogs, ensuring they retire with the love, care, and respect they deserve. Paws of War finds experienced adopters for these retired dogs, covering costs such as transportation and lifetime veterinary care, thereby acknowledging the significant contributions these dogs have made.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Service Dogs

This program focuses on providing service dogs to veterans suffering from PTSD. These dogs are trained to recognize and respond to stress signals, helping to shift the focus of their owners to a more positive environment. The presence of a service dog offers a new outlook on life for those struggling with PTSD and establishes responsibilities that make daily activities more manageable.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Service Dogs

The program for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Service Dogs at Paws of War trains dogs to assist veterans and first responders suffering from TBI. These dogs help manage symptoms like anxiety, memory difficulties, blurred vision, and loss of consciousness, providing safety, security, and emotional support to their handlers.

Foster A Dog or Cat Program

The Foster A Dog or Cat program plays a crucial role in preparing animals for their new lives. Paws of War seeks individuals, especially those with veterinary experience, to provide foster care, aiding in the adjustment of these animals to home environments and preparing them for their roles as service dogs or companion animals.

Urgent Ukraine Rescue Operation

In response to the crisis in Ukraine, Paws of War has launched an urgent rescue operation to feed and shelter pets left behind due to the conflict. Volunteers are setting up feeding stations and shelters for dogs, cats, and farm animals in Ukraine, with a focus on reaching the most affected areas. This operation relies heavily on support to continue providing aid to these desperate animals.
